Why this project exist?
I really love blurry photo for my lock screen, especially on iPad. However, I don't want to always open Figma just to make some background blur images. To be honest, I'm not good at making blurry image in Figma too.
An idea pop up in my mind, what if I can generate the blurry background image by just throwing any image? That's how this project is started.
How I did it?
At this point in my life, building simple app like this is relatively easy.
I can just:
Add UIImageView to background and allow user to change its image
Add shake gesture, so user can change background image by just shaking their phone
Add UIVisualEffectView on top of that UIImageView, so user can change the blur effect
Voila, just like that?
Not really easy like that, everything working fine until user started changing blurriness (more blur or less blur). The performance is really bad, another word would be completely trashed.
That's where DispatchWorkItem come to rescue.
I'm not gonna explain how it works here, there are many tutorials you can check. The documentation from Apple is here: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/dispatch/dispatchworkitem
What I have done?
A stunning blurry wallpapers app for Home/Lock screen that can change how the photo blur with:
Default blur (regular, light, dark, extra light, and prominent)
System material
System material thin
System material ultra-thin
System material thick
System chrome material
Just shake to shuffle between the bundled photos or import photos from your Photo Library.
To learn more, download it with above button and give it a try.
The app support both iPhone and iPad.
Your feedback always appreciated 🫶.
