CaptureMind — Privacy Policy

Local-first by design. Your screenshots stay on your device.

Welcome to CaptureMind. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles your data when you use it to organize and search the screenshots in your photo library.

Overview

CaptureMind is local-first. Reading screenshots, extracting text, generating tags, and searching all happen entirely on your device. No account is required. We do not transmit your screenshots, extracted text, or any personal data to external servers, and we do not sell your data.

What CaptureMind Reads

When you grant access to your photo library, CaptureMind reads only items that the system identifies as screenshots (Apple's PHAssetMediaSubtype.photoScreenshot). It does not read regular photos, videos, Live Photos, or any other media in your library.

Data We Store Locally

For each screenshot the app processes, the following information is stored locally on your device:

• A reference to the screenshot's identifier in the system Photos library.
• Text extracted from the screenshot via on-device OCR.
• Heuristic tags inferred from the extracted text (such as receipt, code, chat, link, doc).
• Capture date and basic image metadata such as dimensions.
• Your favorite marks and the collections you assign the screenshot to.
• Aggregate counts shown on the dashboard (number of indexed screenshots, favorites, collections, storage used).

CaptureMind does not copy the original screenshot image into its own storage. Thumbnails and full-resolution images are loaded on demand from your system Photos library. All of the above is stored in a SQLite database inside the app's private container on your device.

On-Device Processing

• OCR is performed by Apple's Vision framework, which runs entirely on your device.
• Auto-tagging is produced by deterministic rules running on your device — no machine learning model phones home.
• Search runs against a local full-text SQLite index. No queries leave your device.

Permissions

The app requests the following permission:

• Photos (read access) — required to discover and index your screenshots. You may grant Full Access or Limited Access; in either case, CaptureMind only ever reads items that the system marks as screenshots. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings.

The app does not request access to contacts, location, microphone, camera, calendars, reminders, health data, or any other sensitive device resource.

Network and External Services

CaptureMind does not include advertising SDKs, analytics frameworks, or third-party tracking libraries. The app does not perform network requests in order to operate its core features.

Personal Data

We do not collect personally identifiable information. If you choose to contact us by email, your message and email address are used only to respond to your request.

Diagnostics

When errors occur, Apple may provide aggregated, anonymized diagnostic data through App Store Connect. This may include device model, OS version, and crash context. We use this data only to improve app stability and do not use it to identify individual users.

Data Retention and Deletion

All CaptureMind data is stored locally on your device. You can:

• Remove individual entries by deleting the underlying screenshots from your system Photos library.
• Delete collections or remove favorites from within the app.
• Delete the app to permanently remove every CaptureMind index and setting from your device.

CaptureMind does not retain any of your data outside your device.

Security

Your data is stored in the app's private sandboxed container on your device, protected by iOS's standard file-system protections. No method of storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children's Privacy

CaptureMind is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page with an updated effective date.
