Overview

JSON Editor & Diff is a native macOS app for editing, validating, repairing, and comparing JSON documents. The app is local-first and does not require an account.

Data We Process

To provide core functionality, the app may process and store data locally on your device, including:

• JSON content you create, paste, open, or save.
• Editor state and preferences such as search queries, panel visibility, and window settings.
• Temporary in-memory parse, tree, and diff results used to render the interface.

This data is processed on-device and is not uploaded to our servers by default.

File Access and Permissions

JSON Editor & Diff accesses files only when you explicitly open or save them using macOS file dialogs. The app does not request access to contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or location.

Personal Data

We do not require user accounts and do not intentionally collect personally identifiable information through the app. If you contact support, you may voluntarily provide contact details and message content, which are used only to respond to your request.

Analytics and Advertising

JSON Editor & Diff does not use third-party advertising SDKs and does not sell your personal data.

Diagnostics

If you enable Apple diagnostic sharing, Apple may provide us with aggregated crash or performance information. We use diagnostics only to improve reliability and user experience.

Data Retention

Data created in the app remains on your device unless you delete files or remove the app. Retention of support emails, if any, depends on your email provider and our support workflow.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information related to the app and website. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Children's Privacy

JSON Editor & Diff is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
